I think these points are true regardless of whether you have a mental health condition. So many of us live in the past or in the present, trying to keep things they were, or trying to provide for every single eventuality that we completely lose sight of the present.
Those who love us, those who depend on us, they are the ones to suffer from our lack of presence even as we seek to bless them with all that we have, staying in the past or in the future.
Forgetting that the time that we are needed is right here and right now.
Thus part of therapy work does involve training our minds to stop ruminating and marinating on things out of our control, and instead focus on what we can affect. Which really is the only reality that can change.
