First Contact
What do you expect when you walk into a psychologist’s office? Would it surprise you to know that therapy is very much patient driven, and that therapists only provide a road map to the end goal?
Even the goal is one set by the patient, not the therapist.
It’s very important to set expectations correctly at the very beginning of therapy, and keep checking back on those expectations. Don’t be surprised if your therapist asks you what seem like common sense questions – it’s all about finding out where the common ground is.
Be nice. They’re only trying to help.
