The official name for this portion is to figure out your Beliefs (B). The event that caused the unwelcome reactions is the Activating event (A) and the reaction, the Consequence (C).

But I want to make this introduction to CBT a little more approachable, so… No names for now.

Working through the thoughts and beliefs can get significantly embarrassing if you’re really honest with yourself. That’s actually good. No one else needs to see this, except maybe your therapist, and not everything needs to be shared with your therapist. Remember – being honest with yourself will help get to the bottom of things quicker.
