Have you ever heard the phrase “being lonely in the middle of a crowd”? Depression makes this feeling even more intense, and worse still – it can become self-fulfilling. It’s difficult to be social, and sometimes it’s just easier to hide away and never come out of our shells again.

But forcing your way into a depressed person’s life won’t work either. Instead, a gentle approach, allowing the person to know that you aren’t going away, giving the person every freedom to tap on your shoulder, will help someone struggling with depression to know that they’re never really alone.
