Depression changes the usual rules on managing criticism and the various voices in our heads. There’s no easy solution – look at the speed at which I’m posting!
But one trick is to recognise when people do care, and when they’re able to be positive about us. It may be hard to believe, but it’s still possible to take it one voice at a time, one step at a time.
That’s how change starts, after a long period of hearing all the negative and accusatory voices.
