Critical Hello
One common reaction I get when I talk of my inner critic is always to ignore it, or to get rid of it. The thing is, the inner critic is actually an important part of our mind. It has many names, and most commonly is that part of us that gives us healthy doubt, to make sure that we don’t leap blindly into dangerous situations, when we think too highly of ourselves or our capabilities.
So, no, we can’t get rid of this part of ourselves. Instead, we need to look at managing it.
Thing is, in depression, very often, this part is so overgrown and so much a bully that it’s much easier said than done.
